Apple has today released macOS 15.1 beta 2 for developers and you can now download the update. Here are all the details that you need to know.
This update arrives two weeks after the first beta was made available for download to developers and comes likely two months before it is released to the public.
Apple is expected to release iOS 18 to the world in September, and that update is currently working towards the end of its own beta process.
Registered developers can download the new version of macOS 15.1 via the System Settings app, but keep in mind that this is indeed a beta and that it should only be installed on devices that are used for development. There are bugs and issues to be expected here, and there is a very real risk of data loss.
The macOS 15.1 beta brings with it support for Apple Intelligence for the first time, but users will need to have a Mac running an Apple M1 chip or newer in order to use it. Those with an Intel chip are left out, unfortunately, perhaps giving millions of Intel Mac owners a reason to consider upgrading to something running Apple silicon.
Apple Intelligence offers a number of generative AI features including the ability to summarize content, write emails, and more.
