You can now download macOS 14 Sonoma Beta 1 for your compatible Mac right now. Here are the details.
Apple announced macOS 14 during the WWDC 2023 event on June 5, 2023, and while it won’t be made available to the public until this fall there are still plenty of ways to get your hands on it early if you really want to.
There will surely be a public beta in the future, but right now developers can download and install the macOS 14 beta and install it on their Macs.
At this point, it’s important to remember that this beta is a very early one and things could very much go wrong. We’d recommend that you download and install the beta only after completing a full backup, because there is always the chance that you could lose data at some point.
In terms of Mac compatibility, you can now download this update so long as you’re using one of the following Macs:
- iMac 2019 or later
- iMac Pro
- MacBook Air 2018 or later
- MacBook Pro 2018 or later
- Mac Pro 2019 or later
- Mac Studio
- Mac mini 2018 or later
Registered developers can now download the macOS 14 beta by heading to developer.apple.com and following the steps outlined there. Once you’re up and running you can then install the future macOS 14 betas following the usual update process using the System Settings app.
Apple has also made iOS 17, iPadOS 17, tvOS 17, and watchOS 10 available for download in their own developer beta forms, too.
