Apple has officially taken the next step in the progression of three of its major software platforms with the immediate release of macOS 10.13 High Sierra beta 3 and tvOS 11 beta 3 to all users registered globally on the Apple Developer Program.
The third beta of the aforementioned platforms means that Apple has instantly placed more skin in the game by giving registered developers yet another pre-release seed to sink their teeth into. It instantly represents an opportunity for those same developers to interrogate and deep dive into the latest macOS High Sierra and tvOS 11 betas to see exactly what changes have been made and if Apple has actually taken the opportunity to assign engineering resource to fix any issues or bugs that they have uniquely reported.
macOS 10.13 High Sierra Beta 3: macOS High Sierra brings a number of impressive and extremely valuable improvements to the platform when compared to its predecessor, but that doesn’t mean that the third beta in the pre-release roadmap is going to contain a great deal for developers to sink their teeth into. This release is all about continuation of the platform and ensuring that it’s as streamlined as possible ahead of an eventual release.
Those individuals with the necessary developer privileges can grab the latest update from the Updates section of the Mac App Store right now.
tvOS 11 Beta 3: tvOS 11 is one of the surprises from WWDC. Surprising in the fact that it wasn’t actually announced or discussed during the opening keynote, but then appeared as a fairly decent update over the various versions of tvOS 10. tvOS 11 comes with a new automatic light and dark mode which changes depending on the time of day of use, as well as various under-the-hood and internal API improvements, such as better background offerings for third-party developers, and support for notifications within apps.
tvOS 11 beta 3 OTA update can be grabbed from the settings menu of Apple TV which has a configuration profile of tvOS betas already installed.
