Apple has today released for download iPadOS 18.1 beta 2 OTA update file to developers with both the over-the-air and IPSW files made available, here’s everything you need to know.
As respected, and two weeks after the first beta was also released, Apple has upgraded the iPadOS 18.1 beta to version 2, iterating on the first release as the company works towards making the final update available to the public later this year.
The company hasn’t yet confirmed when that will happen, but with iSO 18 set to ship next month, we can perhaps expect October or November to be the likely window.
The iPadOS 18.1 update adds support for Apple Intelligence but we don’t yet know exactly what improvements this beta 2 update has to offer. We can surely expect that there are tweaks to the Apple Intelligence features, but we will need to see the release notes before we can be sure what has changed.
Those interested in getting iPadOS 18.1 beta 2 installed can head over to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates section and then make sure you select the iPadOS 18.1 Developer Beta option. From there, the new beta should be made available via the usual Software Update mechanism. Just remember that you do need to be a registered developer and signed in with the correct Apple ID.
Alternatively, those interested in installing the update manually via the iPadOS 18.1 via IPSW file can head over to developer.apple.com to grab the file for your specific iPad.
