Download: iOS 18.4 RC 2 Released For iPhone

Apple has today released for download iOS 18.4 RC 2 update ahead of what is expected to be an imminent release of the iPhone software to the public.

This new version comes after Monday’s release of what were expected to be final beta versions of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, visionOS 2.4 to developers.

As Release Candidate updates are essentially the version Apple expects to make available to the public, there are normally no more updates after that.

However, Apple yesterday released a second macOS 15.4 Release Candidate to developers, and it has today followed suit with a second update for iPhone users as well. Apple has not gone into details as to what these new updates entail, but it’s a safe bet that a critical bug was discovered and was deemed important enough to be fixed before iOS 18.4’s release to the world.

Notably, Apple has today pushed the second iOS 18.4 Release Candidate update to both developers and those who are on the public beta program, suggesting that it intends to get the update out as quickly as possible. As for when the final release is to be expected, the smart money is currently on some point next week – assuming no further issues are discovered.

The iOS 18.4 update brings with it some new features, not least the addition of Apple Intelligence in the EU. Other additions include a new Image Playground style, Apple Intelligence Priority Notifications, and a new Apple Vision Pro app.
