You can now download iOS 18.1 beta 5 for iPhone and iPadOS 18.1 beta 5 for iPad as OTA update and IPSW links files. Here are the details on this release.
Only a week after releasing beta 4 of iOS 18.1, Apple today seeded fifth beta of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 to developers.
This release, as you may already know, features Apple Intelligence stuff which was not included as part of initial iOS 18.0 release. Apple originally planned and announced Apple Intelligence coming as part of iOS 18.0 at WWDC but couldn’t make the deadline and so delayed it as part of iOS 18.1 release.
It’s also important to note that not all features of Apple Intelligence are coming as part of iOS 18.1 release. Some features will be part of iOS 18.2, iOS 18.3 and even iOS 18.4 which is expected to be released around December of the year.
If you are part of Apple Developer Program, you can grab the latest beta of iOS 18.1 from Settings > General > Software Update on the device itself and grab the OTA update from there.
If you want to install it using IPSW file, you can grab the IPSW links from developer.apple.com portal.
If there’s anything new in beta 5 compared to beta of iOS 18.4, we will of course let you know in a separate post.
Apple is expected to release final version of iOS 18.1 to public sometime next month in October of this year.
