You can download iOS 17.7 IPSW and OTA update if you don’t plan or want iOS 18 upgrade for some reason.
While all of the attention is on the release of iOS 18 and the rest of the big new software releases today, Apple has still found the time to release an unexpected iPhone update in the form of iOS 17.7.
The new iOS 17.7 update brings with it new security fixes for those who have chosen not to update their iPhones to iOS 18 just yet. This will now likely be the situation for iOS 17.x users who don’t want to update to iOS 18, with Apple only releasing new updates that deal with bug fixes and security updates.
Owners of compatible iPhones will need to manually choose to install iOS 17.7 rather than iOS 18, however, but the steps to do that are thankfully pretty simple.
Step 1: Open the Settings app and tap General.
Step 2: Tap Software Update and wait for the page to refresh.
Step 3: Choose iOS 17.7 as your new software update.
Follow the usual software update method from here on out and your iPhone will restart with iOS 17.7 installed. We’d also suggest turning the automatic update mechanism off if you want to be absolutely certain that your iPhone won’t update to iOS 18 of its own accord later, too.
The iOS 18 software update brings with it new features across the board, but the upcoming iOS 18.1 is the update most people are waiting for. With support for Apple Intelligence, iOS 18.1 is expected to be released in October.
