Shortly after Apple’s May 7th event, the company has now released for download iOS 17.5 RC alongside RC versions of iPadOS 17.5, visionOS 1.2, watchOS 10.5, tvOS 17.5, macOS 14.5 and more.
As for changes in iOS 17.5, it mostly contains changes related to openness of iOS in European Union, such as ability for developers to offer sideloading of their apps on iPhone directly from their website alongside third-party app stores, references to new Apple Pencil Pro announced today and Battery Health features for iPad, among other changes.
With iOS 18 announcement due at WWDC next month, it’s unlikely Apple will offer any major changes to any of its platform at this time of the year, with most major features and announcements likely held back for iOS 18 and other platform releases next month.
Apple will likely release final version of iOS 17.5, iPadOS 17.5, tvOS 17.5, macOS 14.5, visionOS 1.2, HomePod 17.5 and watchOS 10.5 next week.
As for those interested in downloading today’s release candidate seeds, registered developers can engage in beta testing by navigating to the Settings app on iPhone or iPad, then heading into the “Software Updates” section, selecting “Beta Updates,” and enabling the iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 Developer Beta option, and then downloading the OTA update from there.
If there are any more changes in any of today’s RC seeds, we will be back to report on them as well. Stay tuned for more on this.
