You can now download iOS 17.4 beta 1 and iPadOS 17.4 beta 1 for iPhone and iPad users. Here are the details on this release.
After releasing final version of iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3 earlier this week, Apple has now deemed fit to release beta 1 of iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4.
As you may already know, Apple must meet the March 6 deadline to implement app sideloading in the European Union as mandated by the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The upcoming iOS 17.4 update will include support for this feature. Sideloading will enable Apple users within the EU to download apps from sources other than the App Store. It’s important to note that this change will be specific to the EU and will not affect customers in other regions.
We are not sure yet what has Apple changed in this release. We will be back with more details once we know what changes have Apple made in this release of iOS and iPadOS.
You can download both iOS 17.4 beta 1 and iPadOS 17.4 beta 1 over-the-air (OTA) from Settings > General > Software Update section of the device. Make sure you have toggle for Beta Update to On position in order to get the aforementioned OTA update to show up on your device.
