Apple has today released for download iOS 17.3 beta 2 and iPadOS 17.3 beta 2 to developers, a move that gives them the chance to test the latest version of Apple’s internal builds with their apps.
The aim is to allow them to then fix any bugs that the updates create within those apps while also giving Apple the chance to fix bugs within its own operating system.
Registered developers can now download the new iOS and iPadOS betas on their devices so long as they are signed into the Apple ID that is associated with their developer account. The update is available via the Software Update mechanism within the Settings app and requires that the Beta Updates option be enabled.
The iOS 17,3 update is expected to be released to the public before the end of the month and will bring with it a new Stolen Device Protection feature. The feature is designed to limit access to private information even if someone steams an iPhone and a device’s passcode. When enabled, a FaceID or Touch ID verification is required to access specific features and turn off Lost Mode.
There are other new additions in this release including collaborative playlists in Apple Music, a feature that was previously expected to be released as part of the iOS 17.2 update but was postponed during the development phase of that release.
