You can now download iOS 17.0.2 IPSW links and OTA profile update on iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Here are the details.
If you’re picking up a brand-new iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro today you’re probably going to want to make sure that you install iOS 17.0.2 before you try to do anything else.
While Apple released iOS 17.0.1 to the world yesterday, it also released iOS 17.0.2 alongside it. But that software update is solely designed to be installed on the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max and it appears to fix a bug that could prove a problem when migrating from an old iPhone.
According to Apple’s release notes this new update fixes a bug that could cause device-to-device migrations to fail, something that is an issue if you’re looking to do just that on new iPhone day.
New in iOS 17.0.2:
• Fixes an issue that may prevent transferring data directly from another iPhone during set-up.
With this in mind, we would suggest that you install iOS 17.0.2 before trying to set up your new iPhone. You should be given an option to do just that during the initial setup process and it’s only a small update — it won’t take too long to install.
Today marks the first time that the new iPhones have become available for sale which means that people around the world are now trying to set them up for the first time. Here’s hoping that people installed iOS 17.0.2 before they did it otherwise they might have to resort to using an iCloud backup instead of the iPhone-to-iPhone migration option.
