Apple might have only just released iOS 14.5 and iPad 14.5 to the public but the company shows no sign of slowing down.
It made iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 beta 1 available to developers recently and now we have the second one released, too. Developers can download the updates via the OTA update mechanism on any device with the required beta profile installed.
The new update doesn’t seem to have any big new features in it from what we’ve seen, but it’s likely that there are changes under the hood to accommodate the new Podcasts Subscriptions future that will be coming soon.
The update does add a new feature that will make it easier for those on the beta program to update to the latest Release Candidate, however.
You can now directly update your iOS or iPadOS device to the latest Release Candidate without removing the beta profile. After updating to the Release Candidate, you can choose to update to the next available beta or uninstall the profile to remove your device from the beta program.
As ever, we’d only suggest updating to these iOS and iPadOS betas if you have a spare device. Don’t install these on your day-to-day devices unless you’re willing to deal with any issues that may arise.
