You can now download iOS 14.2 beta 1 IPSW links and OTA profile file as well as iPadOS 14.2 beta 1 for your iPhone or iPad devices. Here are the details.

Apple today released an expected but very welcome iOS 14.2 beta for developers. Whilst the general public look to get their hands on the maiden release of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14, Apple is enlisting developers to assist with the testing of the first major iOS 14 update.

From a developer perspective, a lot of attention has been lavished on Apple’s beta seeds of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 over the last three months.

Developers – and the general public – from all over the world have been furiously testing Apple’s pre-release seeds in the hope of getting both platforms ready and stable for a release during this month. With Apple now happy with how iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 look and perform, it looks as though the attention is turning to iOS 14.2 ahead of an iPhone 12 launch.

At the time of writing, it’s currently unknown what is included in iOS 14.2 from an in-depth perspective. Apple will likely be using the major point update to push out some bug fixes and to actually take iOS 14 to the next level in terms of stability and performance. Given how many devices iOS 14 actually supports – including the soon-to-be-announced iPhone 12 – Apple needs to ensure that iOS 14 is as good as it can be. The iPhone 12 launch is also going to be extremely important and iOS 14.2 will be the firmware that ships with that device.

Developers who have a compatible iPhone or iPad can access this latest iOS 14.2/iPadOS 14.2 beta with immediate effect. The relevant IPSW and OTA profile files for this release can also be downloaded directly from developer.apple.com for those people who prefer to install beta firmware directly to a test device.
