Many developers from all over the world have previously taken to social media to wax lyrical about just how stable and fluid the initial beta seeds of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 were. Most people downloading this kind of software at this stage in its lifecycle are generally prepared for critical crashes, terrible battery life, and a multitude of other problems that prevent them from using it as the main OS on their daily driver devices.
iOS 14 beta 1 and iPadOS 14 beta 1, however, seem to have broken the norm by actually being extremely stable and providing a very positive experience. Those same developers will be hoping that iOS 14 beta 2 will offer the same level of stability, at the very minimum.

In terms of what experience you will get from the actual OS itself, Apple has clearly stated in its marketing that it has “reimagined the iPhone” with the announcement of iOS 14. In terms of highlights, iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 come with new ways to stay connected via Messages as well as new and improved ways to customize the Home screen with a brand new widgets experience that works perfectly with Apple’s new App Library.
iOS 14 also includes Apple’s new App Clips feature, powerful new features within the Messages app, such as being able to pin conversations to the top of the list and explicitly mention people in group conversations. It comes with new cycling directions, electric vehicle routing, and curated Guides for certain cities and has a huge focus on privacy in order to offer users more transparency on what’s actually going on with their device and whether or not any third-party apps are up to anything nefarious.
This is still the early stages of the iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 development journey, so make sure to keep that in mind when downloading and installing.
If you’re after download links, you can get IPSW links directly from developer.apple.com or as an over-the-air update if you already have beta 1 installed on your device or have the correct beta installation configuration profile.
