You can now download iOS 13 beta 4 and iPadOS 13 beta 4 IPSW links and OTA profile update for your iPhone or iPad. Here are the details.
With almost laser-guided accuracy to expected timescales, registered developers can now pick up iOS 13 beta 4 and iPadOS 13 beta 4. Apple has made beta 4 of both platforms available to download as over-the-air (OTA) updates as well as standalone IPSW link downloads.
The journey for iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 continues. And, yes, even though we are now onto the fourth development seed, it is still strange referencing Apple’s new iPad firmware – iPadOS – as its own product. But that is the world that we now live in and one that we simply need to get used to as Apple continues to work to bring both iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 to the masses later this year. This release is simply the next stage on that roadmap.
History has shown us time and time again that Apple is unlikely to make any major feature additions or functionality improvements at this stage in the development process. The company can, and does, take the decision on occasion to remove certain features or additions that were in earlier versions but they tend to make it back in later seeds and are almost always in place for the final release.
We don’t envisage that happening with iOS 13/iPadOS 13, meaning that you may seem minor revisions and changing of functionality but are unlikely to see anything major change – other than performance and usability – between now and September.
The current beta may not make it feel like it, but Apple expects iOS 13/iPadOS 13 to make significant performance improvements when it is released. That will hopefully include a Face ID experience which is up to 3-times faster at recognizing a face and unlocking the device and a much smoother and faster application launch experience. iOS 13/iPadOS 13 also includes a systemwide Dark Mode, an all-new Maps experience which will roll out gradually during 2019 and 2020, and even a new swipe-based keyboard experience which Sherlocks many popular third-party keyboard apps.
Apple’s sign-in with Apple experience will be offered as part of the iOS 13 experience, as will a revamp of the Reminders app and huge improvements to the native Photos app. It really is a huge and impressive overhaul of the firmware which powers the iPhone and iPad. If you are a developer, you can grab beta 4 of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 right now as an IPSW link from developer.apple.com or as an OTA update from Settings > General > Software Update section from the device itself.
For all of you public testers out there, stay calm, as public beta 3 will likely follow in a matter of days.
