Gran Turismo is regarded by many as the ultimate car racing experience, and having been around since the good old days of the first PlayStation, remains at the forefront among racing simulators. Naturally, fans are anxiously awaiting the release of Gran Turismo 6, and today, a demo of the game has been released for the PlayStation 3. Details after the break.
The download is around 1GB, so won’t be taking up quite as much space on your precious console as Grand Theft Auto will, once downloaded, will allow you to test-drive one of the most eagerly anticipated racing titles of all time.
The demo lets you hone your skills on Britain’s Silverstone track, and although it’s only a basic level Gran Turismo 6 experience, offers a flavor as to what you’ll eventually be able to enjoy once the title is released.
Sure, the Gran Turismo 6 snipped is not as exciting as some of the very vicarious offerings available in console magazines back when the original Gran Turismo was the most celebrated racer of a generation, but this demo, such as it is, remains a must-have for anybody waiting for the game to be released.
With finesse and awe-inspiring aesthetics having been two of the main clinching features of Gran Turismo over the years, many have questioned why Gran Turismo 6 is debuting on the PlayStation 3 rather than the upcoming PlayStation 4. Its Q4 release does, of course, coincide with the projected retail of the next-gen Sony machine, but with 70 million PlayStation 3s already out there and thousands still selling on a daily basis, I guess the game’s makers have gone where the money is, which is understandable.
Retailers are known to jump the gun when it comes to offering pre-orders of titles with unspecified release dates, and Gran Turismo 6 is no different. The likes of Newegg and others have long since been offering Gran Turismo 6 for pre-order, with the consensus seeming to be that it will release on the 28th of November.
Whether this date is of any significance or simply an educated guess remains to be seen, but we’ll be sure to keep you guys posted on any other info pertaining what is likely to be among the biggest game releases this year, so stay tuned!
