After a period of hard work and dedication, the latest version of the Electra jailbreak – Electra1131 – is available to download with immediate effect, complete with full compatibility with iOS 11.3.1 across a slew of Apple hardware including the latest iPhone X, and it has support for Cydia as well.
The jailbreak community has witnessed a plethora of jailbreak solutions come and go over the last few months. Some of those solutions have been flash-in-the-pan solutions, whereas others have been periodically updated to stand the test of time and support multiple devices over multiple firmware releases.
A number of months ago, it seemed like Electra would fall into the former category with developer CoolStar seemingly disillusioned with the community and the lack of gratitude he received for releasing such a tool. Now, we know that’s not the case and it seems that Electra is going from strength-to-strength, with this latest release proving just that.
What we have here is a new and improved version of the Electra, complete with the same easy-to-use interface but packaged with the necessary components and internals to instantly liberate Apple’s 64-bit devices running iOS 11.3.1, which is the last version of Apple’s firmware to be exploited thanks to Ian Beer’s exploit.
There had been early talk about this latest release only supporting iPhone 6 and below running iOS 11.3.1 but those fears were dispelled early-on with CoolStar confirming that compatibility would be offered all the way up to iPhone X. And that’s exactly what we have with this latest Electra release that supports not just iOS 11.3.1, but also all older firmwares down to iOS 11.2.
Unlike the very first Electra release for iOS 11.0.x-11.1.2, this latest and newest version comes with Cydia as part of the payload right from get go, as well as Substitute framework – which is the Comex-created replacement for Cydia Substrate – meaning that jailbreakers should immediately be able to access Cydia and install their favorite tweaks without waiting for additional updates from Saurik to arrive in the future.
To that end, what we have here is yet another complete jailbreak solution, this time for iOS 11.3.1, and even offering compatibility with iOS 11.3 betas.
You can download the latest Electra release from coolstar.org/electra/ as an IPA file which can be sideloaded using a tool like Cydia Impactor. There are two versions available, one which requires paid developer account while the other one doesn’t and can be used with free Apple ID account.
We will be back soon with full step by step guide on how to jailbreak your device using Electra. Stay tuned for more.
