Apple has today released visionOS 1.0.3, a new update that arrives just over a week after the Apple Vision Pro went on sale and marks the second update to have arrived following the release of visionOS 1.0.2 that was ready and waiting when the headset officially went on sale on February 2.
This new update has one particularly important fix that will be a big relief to those who work in Apple Stores and on Apple’s phone lines because it fixes an issue that the company seemingly didn’t see coming but absolutely should have.
Shortly after the Vision Pro went on sale some users found that entering their passcode into the headset incorrectly too many times meant that the device would become locked with no way to get it back up and running. A visit to an Apple Store was required so that the headset could be reset, but Apple’s new visionOS 1.0.3 software update corrects that according to its release notes.
This update provides important bug fixes and adds an option to reset your device if you’ve forgotten your passcode.
Now, a device that has been locked because of the incorrect entry of a passcode can now be reset at home in the same way that other Apple devices can. For that reason alone we suggest that all Vision Pro owners update to this new software as soon as possible.
Apple is already testing visionOS 1.1 with developers, an update that also offers this tweak. The visionOS 1.1 software update is likely to ship to the public within the next few weeks.
