Apple has today released for download the third beta of iOS 17.4 (beta 3) to developers alongside the third iPadOS 17.4 beta.
The new updates will likely be made available to public beta testers within a few days and come just a week after Apple seeded the second beta updates.
Those who are registered developers can now download the new beta via the Settings app after signing in with their developer ID. Choosing to accept Beta Updates will see the iOS 17 betas become available with the latest update offered up for download.
In terms of new changes, it’s currently too early to be sure for this particular release but IOS 17.4 as a whole brings with it huge changes for those in the European Union. Support for third-party app stores is at the top of the list as is support for alternative payment systems and third-party browser engines. NFC access to banks will also allow other companies to offer competition for Apple Pay but none of this will be offered outside the EU.
Globally, there are changes to the way game streaming apps will be offered. Currently only available via web apps, Apple will allow companies like Xbox, Nvidia, and others to offer game streaming apps for download via the App Store for the first time with iOS 17.4.
There is currently no hard release date for iOS 17.4 but it will have to ship before before the first week of March with Apple having to comply with the EU’s DMA by that date.
