Apple has released the third iOS 16.5 beta to developers, an update that will likely come just a day or so before the same release is made available to those who are on the public beta program.
The new beta comes alongside the third beta release of macOS Ventura 13.4, watchOS 9.5, and tvOS 16.5.
Those who are registered developers and are signed into their developer Apple D should now see the new update available to them via the Software Update portion of the Settings app.
It’s still early days and hard to tell if there is anything new in this specific release, but the earlier iOS 16.5 beta included support for beginning screen recordings using Siri. A new Sports tab had also been added to the Apple News app as well.
As for when the new iOS 16.5 update will be made available to everyone, that’s likely to happen at some point in May. It’s also set to be one of the last updates before Apple turns its attention to iOS 17. The next big update is set to be announced during WWDC in June but won’t be available to download until around September time. That’s also expected to be when Apple will announce the iPhone 15 lineup for the first time.
Developers should only download this beta onto devices that are dedicated to testing iOS releases of course, and we wouldn’t suggest installing it onto iPhones that are anyone’s main device.
