The Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset has been on sale for a month now and while some are waiting for a cheaper version to launch, others are already wondering what a second-generation version might look like.
But those people could be in for a very long wait.
That’s according to a new report by the usually well-connected supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who says that those waiting for a big Apple Vision Pro upgrade shouldn’t expect anything to happen until at least 2027.
Apple is already collecting user feedback for the Vision Pro product roadmap. It is currently estimated that new models with significant changes to the Vision Pro specification may not be in mass production until 2027.
Kuo was writing as part of a wider Medium post discussing the Apple Vision Pro, saying that he expects Apple to release a lower-priced version of the headset as well as a new, upgraded model in the future. However, he goes on to add that he believes Apple is yet to officially start either project which suggests that both models might be years away.
The future of the Apple Vision Pro might be helped by Apple’s decision to ditch plans for the so-called Apple Car, with some employees reportedly moving on to other projects within the company. AI is a key focus, and that could see Siri improve in ways that open the Apple Vision Pro to new possibilities in the future.
