Crystal Downloader Is A Free Download Management And Acceleration App For Android

unnamed

Developed by xtr143, Crystal Downloader is a simple download manager and accelerator that manages your downloads and also split files to be downloaded so that they download a whole lot faster.

Crystal Downloader has a very straightforward user-interface. The main page consists of a Download button which you can tap after entering the URL of the file you want to download. Beneath it you can see already downloaded or currently downloading files and their information (file name, download location, percentage download complete, number of parts in which download is divided).

Other than that, you have a settings page where you set location of default music/video/general downloads and the maximum number of parts to split the download into (up to 32!).

To start a download in Crystal Download, you copy the URL (link) of the file to be downloaded from the browser, launch Crystal Download, paste the URL in the space at the top and tap Download. Your other option is to long-tap a link and Share it with Crystal Download.

I normally never have to use my smartphone (a Samsung Galaxy S II) for heavier downloads, but yes, there are times when there is no laptop around and the file must be downloaded urgently. That’s the case when Crystal Downloader will come handy.

Crystal Downloader is available for free. It can be downloaded over on the Play Store [Link]. If you have any queries, suggestions or complaints, check out the official thread over on XDA-Developers.

Download managers are one of the most popular software on desktop computers. Their working consists of two-parts: to efficiently manage all downloads from the internet and to ensure that the files get downloaded at the fastest speeds possible. These managers use “download acceleration” technology to speed up downloads in which the file you’re downloading is split up into many parts and then all parts are downloaded simultaneously. This is done to circumvent connection limitations related to bandwidth given per connection.

Now, dedicated download management has made its way into smartphones (specifically Android smartphones) with Crystal Downloader. Check it out after the jump!
