Crytek’s CryENGINE has been around for years, and has evolved to become arguably the very best in the business, catering mostly to the first-person shooter genre. FPS titles are, hands down now, the most popular and sought among gamers, and the Crysis series is at the forefront. CryENGINE 3 was announced back in 2009, but the meticulous nature of gaming development means it takes game makers an age to utilize the engines to their full potential.
Crysis 3 is scheduled to be dropping at the beginning of next year, and as is always the case prior to a big release, the teaser trailers drop at various intervals in order to get gamers excited and prepared for release. With that in mind, Crytek’s Crysis 3 trailer, which shows the mind-blowing prowess of the CryENGINE 3, should come as no surprise, and if you were on the fence regarding the third installment of the Crysis series, we’ve a funny feeling you this clip could make your mind up for you.
As a gamer, there’s always something you’re on the lookout for, and although CryENGINE 3 and similar other gaming mechanics make for extremely realistic gameplay, visuals and cinematics, the time between each release becomes that bit longer. Along with Halo 4, which is set to arrive later this year, Crysis 3 is the title on everybody’s lips, and since it’ll be releasing a month or two post-holiday season, Crytek knows it will be extra pressure in enticing gamers to fork out their hard-earned dollars.
Will I be purchasing Crysis 3? Well, after seeing this video, I am certainly tempted, and although I don’t particularly subscribe to the trend of anticipating and checking for updates on a game for years on end, I do think this one will be worth the wait, and worth the money.
There’s still quite a bit of time before we’ll be blessed with Crysis 3, and hopefully Crytek and EA – the publisher – will offer a few more teaser trailers and other in-game insights in the coming months.
