The thinnest notebook in Apple’s MacBook line is Air which hasn’t seen an upgrade since last June. This however may change soon but not before the similar upgrades for MacBook and MacBook Pro. A French site named HardMac speculates that due to non-availability of the new low-draw Intel Core i5 chips, MacBook Air with Core i5 may not ship at the same time as MacBook Pros.
Apple will have to delay the update of the MacBook Air by couple of weeks. It is true that the MacBook Air does not look really sexy anymore when compared to the MacBook Pro 13.3"… maybe not for long.
The site however also points out that Apple in the past has enjoyed first priority when it comes to access to new processor chips and that may happen with i5-520UM too.
It is still possible that Intel ships first samples to Apple, in small quantities, at a premium price.
Core i5 upgrades for MacBook and MacBook Pro could be announced at Apple’s event next week, where they are highly expected to unveil the long rumored Tablet, iPhone OS 4.0 and iLife 2010.
