If you or your family have a lot of Find My items, you’re in luck — Apple has increased the number of items that are supported by the Find My app on the iPhone and iPad.
The change means that people can keep track of more things at once, double the number that was previously available. However, this is actually a change that was made when Apple released iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 and it only now got around to updating its support documentation.
Until iOS 16 Apple’s Find My apps supported up to 16 items linked to the Find My network, but MacRumors notes that a support document has now been updated to double that figure to 32.
You might be wondering how needs to be able to keep tabs on 32 different items, but Apple also makes it clear that some devices actually count as three — AirPods with their charging cases, for example.
You can add up to 32 items in Find My. In addition to AirTag and the third-party Find My network accessories in the Items tab, AirPods Max count as one item, AirPods and AirPods Pro (1st generation) count as two items, and AirPods Pro (2nd generation) count as three items.
Items that support the Find My network include the various different types of AirPods, Apple’s MagSafe Wallet, and some Beats headphones. Third-party item trackers and other items can also support the Find My network, and now appear in the Find My tab up to the count of 32.
