Watching Netflix on a Mac is a simple case of visiting the Netflix.com website and getting your fix that way, but it’s not necessarily the best experience or the best idea. Instead, a new app going by the name of Clicker might be the way to go.
The app is available now and offers some more advanced features including Touch Bar controls and more, but it isn’t all good news. Those hoping that by breaking Netflix out of the browser they’d be able to enjoy 4K playback will be out of luck, which remains ridiculous.
No more switching between browser tabs. Simply launch Clicker for Netflix straight from your dock and get your binge on.
Plus, with InstantStart technology, you will pick up right where you left off the last time you were watching. Hunting to find your show again is so early 2000s.
As for that Touch Bar, users will be able to use it to interact with their video as well as do something that few people are ever likely to actually do – prevent Netflix from automatically playing the next episode once one is complete.
The limitations that remain are unlikely to go away any time soon given the fact that Clicker is ultimately a wrapper for the Netflix web interface. That means that playback remains limited to 1080p, as we mentioned earlier, which is unfortunately something we’re likely to have to put up with for now.
If you don’t mind that continued limitation, and think that a wrapper with Touch Bar support is better than having to use your web browser to get your latest fix of Star Trek, then you can pick Clicker up now. It’s available for just $2 if you use promo code launchpromo9. The price will rise to $5 when the app is past its launch period.
Clicker might not be for everyone, but if you can make use of it, $5 is a price well worth paying. You can download the app at clickerfornetflix.com.
