How To Check If Your Local Chipotle Was Affected By Recent Credit Card Hack

Visited any Chipotle or Pizzeria Locale branches? Here’s how to check if you are affected by recent credit card hack.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, having your credit card details compromised is a very real risk, and if you ate at a Chipotle or Pizzeria Locale between March 24, 2017 and April 18, 2017 and paid by card, then there is a good chance that you have had this happen to you. Back in April, Chipotle announced that it had its payment system hacked and it has now confirmed that its sister chain Pizzeria Locale was also impacted.

While neither company is saying exactly which of its locations were targeted, Chipotle has confirmed that “most” were. That means that the chances are high that your local establishment was on the list, and as a result, you may have had your credit card details compromised without you knowing. While Chipotle can’t confirm whether your details were in fact taken or not, it has offered up a means for finding out whether the location you visited was one of those that the hackers got data from.

If you want to know whether you should be worried, head on over to Chipotle’s website and scroll to the bottom of the page, select a state, and then select a city. Now you’ll be given a list of all Chipotle locations affected in the area you just selected and the chain also suggests that its customers call “888-738-0534 Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. EDT” if they have any specific questions or concerns.

If you do suspect that your data has gone walkabout, then we strongly suggest you tell your card issuer and have everything checked out. At the very least, a new card will be required, but it is always prudent to go through statements and ensure that every transaction is accounted for.

You can view hacked Pizzeria Locale branches below while to check if the Chipotle locations you visited within the aforementioned period were affected, head on over to chipotle.com/security.
