Chinese Lockdown Is Hitting Apple’s High-End MacBooks, But Not Its iPhone SE

The latest round of COVID-19-related lockdowns to hit China have begun to impact some of Apple’s products, according to a new report by analyst Kuo.

While the supply of the new iPhone SE isn’t being impacted by the lockdown, Kuo suggests that we can see MacBook Pro stock issues as a result of the recent situation.

While stocks of the iPhone SE remain solid and people can buy them immediately via Apple, those looking to buy a MacBook Pro are set for a considerable wait as deliveries stretch into the weeks.

“The delivery status of the new iPhone SE made exclusively by Pegatron remains “in stock” on Apple’s online stores in many countries after the China lockdown, implying that the current inventories can still meet lackluster demand,” Kuo said via his Twitter account. “Conversely, the delivery time of high-end MacBook Pros (Quanta as the sole supplier) that have been in good demand since launch has roughly increased by 3-5 weeks after the China lockdown.”

Of course, this isn’t all necessarily 100% accurate because delivery issues have plagued the MacBook Pro since it was last refreshed. We also don’t yet know how popular the iPhone SE is or how many units the company was able to add to stock inventory before the lockdown problems began.
