ChatGPT Is Now Rolling Its AI-Powered Search Engine Out To Everyone

ChatGPT users can now take advantage of the company’s AI search engine without having to pay, a  move that marks the first time that the feature has been available to everyone.

The announcement came as part of OpenAI’s 12 days of ship-mas live stream. The company also announced an “optimized” version of the feature that will be available to mobile users while an advanced voice mode is also available.

This ChatGPT search engine feature first rolled out to those who pay back in October, meaning that the feature was only paywalled for two months before it was made available to everyone who wants it.

The AI search tool has a number of improvements including the ability to display a list of results alongside images and opening hours when users search for a specific location or attraction, such as a restaurant.

Earlier livestreams saw OpenAI announce other features that are aimed at those who pay the $200 per month subscription required to get in on the ChatGPT Pro offering. The text-to-image model Sora is the one that captured everyone’s attention for obvious reason, and we can expect more features to be unveiled in the coming days as well.

While ChatGPT Pro is no longer needed in order to use the new AI search capabilities, an OpenAI account will be required.
