Following the meteoric rise to prominence of ChatGPT OpenAI finally brought an official app to iOS in May. Now that same app has been updated to add Bing search support as well.
However, the new Bing support is only available for those who have the latest version of the ChatGPT app and are paying customers of OpenAI. The new feature uses GPT-4, something that is only available to subscribers.
The new Siri support is outlined in the updated app’s release notes, and there’s more to this update as well.
Browsing: Plus users can now use Browsing to get comprehensive answers and current insights on events and information that extend beyond the model’s original training data. To try it out, enable Browsing in the “New Features” section of your app settings. Then select GPT-4 in the model switcher and choose “Browse with Bing” in the drop-down.
Search History Improvements: Tapping on a search result takes you directly to the respective point in the conversation.
The new Bing functionality improves ChatGPTs capabilities in a way that isn’t currently available to those who don’t pay for ChatGPT-4, although that might change in the future.
The updated ChatGPT is now available for download for free from the App Store and those with automatic updates enabled will likely already have it installed.
