Full specification sheet, along with real life pictures of HTC HD7 / HD3 has been leaked into the wild. For those of you who don’t know, HTC HD7 / HD3 is a Windows Phone 7 device and is the highly anticipated successor to last year’s HTC HD2 (a Windows Mobile 6.5.x Phone).
Brandon Miniman of Pocket Now has posted a very interesting video in which he compares the operating / homescreening system of Windows Phone 7 against iPhone 4 running iOS 4.x. Both have certain similarities along with places where WP7 and iOS completely take separate paths.
HTC announced earlier that they have plans for launching a Windows Phone 7 handset but they never mentioned or revealed any price, specs or estimated release date for the said device. But now, a leaked inventory document of German cellular network O2 has revealed an upcoming Windows Phone 7 device by HTC, dubbed as the “HD7” which is likely going to be successor of the much popular Windows Mobile handset HTC HD2.
Announced just now over on Windows Phone Developer Blog, the development tools for Windows Phone 7 are now final after the OS itself going gold a couple of weeks ago. OEMs and mobile operators are going through the final stages of testing their handsets and now devs can finally finalize their apps and games.

Microsoft today has announced that Windows Phone 7 code has been locked down, and it is ready to go onto consumer handsets this fall. In short it has reached its RTM (Release to Manufacturing) stage. All quirks have been washed out, new features have been added, and all that’s left right now is for manufacturers to finalize and release the first of devices which will run Windows Phone 7.
Microsoft has just announced launch titles for games which are going to be available this fall on Xbox LIVE for Windows Phone 7. It should be no secret now that Microsoft is going to heavily rely on its already popular and established Xbox platform to bring firepower to this new mobile platform. If you thought that HTC HD3 or the HTC Gold might be HTC’s launch handset for Windows Phone 7, you’d probably be wrong because a new video has just popped up in the wild showing another handset named the HTC Schubert which is claimed to be the first handset from HTC running Windows Phone 7.
Earlier this week, Microsoft started sending out developer-only test units built by Samsung and LG to developers to help them test the performance of their upcoming apps on actual handsets rather than emulators. Folks at NewsGeek site has put this test phone which is running Technical Preview version of Windows Phone 7 against iPhone 3GS running iOS 4 for a head-to-head web browser speed comparison. Unfortunately, since the test was conducted on a (different?) 3G network instead of WiFi (see the Disclaimer below), In all fairness, it will be unfair to pick one winner between Mobile Safari and Mobile IE.
