The days of playing a game for personal gratification are long lost in the modern era of gaming, for aside from flexing your thumbs against some of the world's best in online multiplayer lobbies, one can also clock up the achievements offered by every title released to market. Now, given that Grand Theft Auto 5 is set to be one of the biggest releases of 2013, it stands to reason that hardcore fans might like to know exactly what kinds of achievements are on offer from Rockstar's forthcoming blockbuster, and even though the game won't be around for a month yet, Xbox360Achievements has come through with the juicy details. We run through them after the break, although we wouldn't be fulfilling our duties if we weren't to issue a spoiler alert!
Much of the excitement and hysteria surrounding the gaming industry may be focused on the soon-to-be released PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, but that doesn't mean Sony are ready to give up on their current-generation hardware. The PlayStation 4 is likely to prove to be extremely popular when it is released later in the year, but it also seems that the Japanese electronics giants are giving more budget focused consumers what they want by making the much talked about flash-based 12GB PlayStation 3 available in two of video games biggest markets.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is easily one of the most anticipated titles to be releasing this year, and in the wake of NVIDIA's revelation that the title would also be arriving for PC by the end of the year, Rockstar Games has just dropped the official online gameplay trailer. Hitherto, we've seen cinematics, snippets, and a deluge of screenshots illustrating just how advanced GTA 5 will be both graphically and in playing terms, but nothing beats a feature-length gameplay trailer. Check it out after the break!
The PlayStation 4 may be on the agenda for many a Sony fan this year, but as the company has indicated on numerous occasions, there's still plenty of gaming to be had, and money to be made, from the current-gen PlayStation 3. As such, Sony announced just last September that it was planning to throw out a 12GB, flash storage-based version of the console, with the catch being that it would only be made available to the Hong Kong and European markets. However, much to the benefit of US-based PlayStation 3 fans, the company has gone back on its word, and decided to throw out the new variant of the ageing games machine to those based in the States.
Casual gaming has taken off to be one of the biggest things that nobody thought would ever happen. Gone are the days where the only video game you could play had to be in front of a TV, connected to a system with zero portability. Mobile games are one of the driving forces for procrastination, but let's face it, most mobile games suck for actual gaming. Touch-screen devices are perfect for one-touch controlled puzzlers such as Temple Run, or Angry Birds, but don't perform as well when an analogue axis and buttons are slapped onto the screen.
With any next-generation product, particularly within the image-conscious technology industry, we expect a thinner, lighter, and slicker form factor all round. While the jury's still out on whether the PlayStation 4 console looks as cool as its predecessor did when it launched all those years ago, there's no doubting that Sony has scaled down the packaging while scaling up the hardware beef within the PS4. Sony’s PS Access channel has a short video pitting new and old side-by-side, which not only lets you make up your mind as to which looks better, but also gives you some idea as to how much more compact the PlayStation 4 is.
The act of YouTubing has become almost synonymous with checking out the latest viral videos the Web has to offer, and as such, seldom would you find any digital device bereft of a native or at least third-party YouTube app. As well as smartphones and tablets, the major consoles also include their own YouTube apps, and the PlayStation 3 client has just been dealt a minor update by Google. Full details on the new release can be found after the break.
As we keenly await for the GTA 5 release date, Rockstar Games has been continually teasing us with GTA 5 screenshots and cinematics of the game. To really gauge how good a title is and more importantly, whether we can see ourselves going out and buying it, a gameplay trailer always helps, and today, Rockstar has, as promised, delivered just that.
If you're a fan of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto series, there's a pretty strong chance you're waiting on the release of GTA 5, which will hit the retail market in September. What you may not have considered amid the excitement and intermittent posting of GTA 5 screenshots by Rockstar, is that the title will require 8GB of your console's hard drive space in order for the mandatory installation to take place. While this may not be a problem for those with plenty of leftover real estate, gamers in ownership of the 4GB or 8GB Xbox 360 will have to find or buy a USB stick to cope with the excess.
The release of Grand Theft Auto 5, at least in gaming terms, is not too far away, and Rockstar Games has been doing everything it can to get fans excited for its September release. As has been the case for the best part of a year now, the publisher of the famed series has recently dropped a few more GTA 5 screenshots to whet the appetite, with more insight into the vehicles, weaponry and action. Check below for more details, as well as those all-important screenshots!
