Apple’s next-generation CarPlay hasn’t launched yet, even though it was expected in 2024. While the release is still pending, leaked images have given us a sneak peek at the interface, offering an exciting look at what Apple has been working on.
The images, shared by Aaron Perris on X, were reportedly found in an EU database, a common place where CarPlay 2 assets have appeared before.
These four images showcase a fresh widget-based design, while still keeping the familiar app column on the left side of the screen, similar to the current CarPlay setup.
Here’s what the widgets include:
- A clock widget that shows the time in different cities
- A weather widget for quick access to the forecast
- A combo widget for navigation and “Now Playing” controls
- A standalone “Now Playing” widget for music and podcasts
- A calendar widget to display your upcoming events
This new widget-focused design highlights Apple’s goal to make CarPlay 2 more personalized and user-friendly, bringing important information front and center for drivers.
Although there’s no official release date yet, these updates hint at exciting improvements for Apple’s in-car experience.
