When it comes to popular gaming franchises, Call of Duty always seems to leave competitors in its wake. We’re coming up to that point of the year again when Activision drops its latest blockbuster, and this time around, CoD fans are gearing themselves up for the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts. On a day that has seen much by way of game-related announcements, Activision and Infinity Ward have collectively announced that the special, Prestige Edition of the upcoming title will include an added extra in the form of a 1080p action camera. More details can be found right after the break!
In the run-up to a new title, publishers and developers often look to reel in those hardcore fans willing to pay a bit extra for a bit extra, and the Prestige Edition of Call of Duty: Ghosts is evidence of that. However, unlike your run-of-the-mill promo bundles, which tend to throw in stickers, baseball caps, key rings and other junk such treats alongside a plethora of digital goodies, Activision and Infinity Ward will be bundling a 1080p action camera to all Prestigious purchasers.
The so-called “tactical camera” is described as water resistant, and arrives with a 4GB memory card. There’s no telling how well-made the camera is or even by whom it is manufactured, but still, it’s nice to see the makers of this popular game offer something of reasonable value to consumers willing to pony up those extra dollars.
In the case of the Prestige Edition of Call of Duty: Ghosts, we’re talking about quite a few extra dollars, to say the least. At $199, you’d have to be a pretty ardent fan to part with that kind of cash, but with CoD being the biggest-selling console series of all time, there’ll definitely be a few willing to pay for the add-ons come November.
As well as the camera, the Prestige Edition also includes a carrying case, Season Pass for all subsequent downloads, and a paracord strap; as well as, of course, the game itself.
The actual date for CoD Ghosts is November 5th, and although we anticipate the usual high sales figures, there’ll be some stiff competition this time around from Rockstar’s eagerly-awaited Grand Theft Auto 5.
