For decades now Apple’s given everyone who buys a new piece of hardware a little treat. Inside iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other boxes people have found Apple logo stickers that could then be placed anywhere they like.
They’re a tradition of sorts, but they’re going away — starting with the new M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air.
The new tablets were announced during Apple’s Let Loose event earlier this week and 9to5Mac notes that Apple Stores have been warned that they won’t include Apple stickers in the box.
It’s apparently all in aid of helping Apple reach its environmental goals, but there’s a silver lining to this cloud — you might still be able to get a sticker if you ask nicely.
Apple Stores, however, are receiving shipments with a limited quantity of Apple logo stickers that can be distributed to customers who buy a new iPad Pro or iPad Air, but only upon request. So, if you buy an iPad Pro or iPad Air from an Apple Store, you can request an Apple sticker at the time of purchase.
What’s more, the report notes that once Apple Stores run out of stickers they can ask for more, suggesting that this isn’t going to be a one-time thing. With this in mind, it seems safe to assume that any future Mac and even the iPhone 16 launch will go the same way, so maybe it’s time to start stockpiling Apple stickers of your own.
