While most people I know prefer sites like 9GAG, my personal favorite social news website is Reddit for one very simple reason: its community is, undoubtedly, the best you can find on the internet. Whether its helping you out when you’ve lost hope in everyone you know or making you laugh out loud at the mundane-est of topics, these guys will always be there for you. I love you, Reddit. With that awkward bit out of the way, let’s get into this awesome Reddit app we came across recently. It’s called RedditSync and, as the name suggests, it lets your sync posts on Reddit to view offline when you don’t have access to internet. Check it out after the break.
From Android Market:
RedditSync is a great new way to enjoy Reddit on the go. Easily sync your favorite subreddits for later offline viewing. RedditSync aims to bring you the fastest mobile Reddit experience out there…
We’ve tested the app on a Samsung Galaxy S II on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and can confirm that it works as advertised. As a matter of fact, I’ve been using RedditSync for the past month or so and find it to be very useful for those times when I don’t have internet access (e.g. when I’m on a long road trip). I synchronized 15 pages of my favorite subreddit r/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu, read awesome rage-comics throughout the journey and was actually unable to read them all when I reached the destination.
RedditSync is a Beta app at this moment, so it isn’t feature-complete. Limitations like only being able to sync one subreddit at a time, not being able to sync non-image posts, comments etc. leave a lot to be desired. We also hope the developer includes an auto-sync feature so the app can sync multiple subreddits at night. But yes, again, this is an in-development app, so these features will included in future updates.
If you’re an avid Redditor and own an Android smartphone with sparse internet connectivity, you really need to get this app.
RedditSync is a free app. It can be downloaded from the link embedded below.
