Apple is expected to announce a whole new round of software updates at WWDC23 in June, with watchOS 10 just one of those releases. Now, a new report claims that we should expect big changes when that software lands.
Apple is expected to show watchOS 10 off during the June 5 WWDC opening keynote with early betas made available there and then.
But the software isn’t likely to be made available to everyone until September, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman saying that we can look forward to big changes.
Writing in the weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman said that while the 2023 Apple Watch hardware updates aren’t expected to be big ones, the software upgrades could be very different indeed.
I believe the new watchOS should be a fairly extensive upgrade — with notable changes to the user interface — unlike iOS 17. It’s important for watchOS to have a big year given that the Apple Watch hardware updates will be anything but major.
Apple is also expected to announce iOS 17 at the same event, another update that Gurmn has previously said he expects to include a number of notable improvements.
The WWDC23 event will also likely see Apple share details about the macOS 14, iPadOS 17, and tvOS 17 software updates while there are rumors that a new mixed reality headset will also debut.
