Big iOS 16 Notifications Changes Could Be Coming In June, Says New Report

Apple will hold its 2022 WWDC conference from June 6 and we can expect to get a look at what iOS 16 will have to offer when it ships later in the year.

Now, a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that we might see changes to the way notifications work and more.

Gurman was writing in his weekly Power On newsletter and said that while a large redesign seems unlikely, we there could be significant changes to notifications and health tracking features in this year’s big iOS update.

On the iOS side, I’m looking for some fairly significant enhancements across the board, including an update to notifications and new health-tracking features.

I’m not expecting an end-to-end redesign of iOS’s interface, even though it hasn’t changed much since iOS 7 nearly a decade ago. But there might be a new iPadOS multitasking interface.

Apple will hold its WWDC opening keynote on June 6 with the event running through June 10. We can expect iOS 16 to be announced alongside iPad 16, watchOS 9, tvOS 16, and macOS 13. All of those updates will likely enter beta at the same time, with their public releases unlikely to take place until around September or October time.

While the WWDC events are based on software and developers, there is still the chance that we could see some new hardware being announced, too.
