Beta 3 Of iOS 9.3.3, OS X El Capitan 10.11.6, tvOS 9.2.2 Released

After seeding beta 1 of iOS 10, tvOS 10, watchOS 3 and macOS Sierra last week right after the keynote on day 1 of WWDC, Apple has now released beta 3 version of iOS 9.3.3 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, tvOS 9.2.2 for Apple TV 4, and OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 for Mac to those registered on both the Apple Developer Program and Apple Public Beta Program. This year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2016) may have been all about Apple’s next-generation software platforms, but let us not forget that Apple still has a job to do prior to those major software upgrades launching later this year.

To that end, the Cupertino-based company has continued the development of the current versions of three of its major platforms by seeding the third beta of iOS 9.3.3, OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan and tvOS 9.2.2 to registered developers and testers for their feedback. Here, we are going to take a look at what exactly is new, if anything, in these just released betas.

iOS 9.3.3 Beta 3

The third pre-release seed of iOS 9.3.3 comes into the lives of registered developers approximately two weeks after the last beta version was introduced. That means iOS 9.3.3 has now been in the hands of developers for more than four weeks, with still no real sign of going live for everyone just yet. As you might expect from a relatively minor point update, iOS 9.3.3 contains no real outward-facing changes, instead focusing on under-the-hood improvements that should increase the overall stability and reliability of the platform.

Anyone with iOS 9.3.3 beta 2 installed on a test iPhone or iPad can upgrade to the latest version over-the-air from Settings > General > Software Update directly on the device. Those trying to install iOS 9.3.3 beta for the first time will have to grab it either from developer.apple.com or beta.apple.com.

OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 Beta 3

There’s a feeling of sadness coursing through us as we welcome what will certainly be the last few upgrades to the software known as “OS X”. The third beta of OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 is a minor incremental update, and is clearly setting the scene for the wholesale changes and feature improvements that are coming later this year in the form of macOS Sierra. Until then, Apple is focusing on improving the experience given to Mac owners by stabilizing and enhancing the current OS X experience.

Developers and testers already running previous beta can grab the update over-the-air through the Mac App Store right now. First timers can initiate the download from either developer.apple.com or beta.apple.com.

tvOS 9.2.2 Beta 3

It’s very unlikely that any of Apple’s software platforms will get any major new feature additions in their current iterations. The company will instead concentrate on building those changes into the upcoming versions as announced during WWDC. The third tvOS 9.2.2 beta focuses on stability and security enhancements, as well as under-the-hood changes to the tvOS codebase. There’s been no outward-facing changes spotted in the first two betas, and beta three doesn’t change that.

tvOS 9.2.2 beta 3 update can be downloaded from developer.apple.com, or for those who are already running previous beta can grab the OTA update directly from the Apple TV.
