CES has already delivered an abundance of weird and wonderful products, and whilst the inaugural tech event of 2015 will not see the launch of any Apple products directly, third-party accessory and peripheral makers look to be very much on their games. Although no specific date has been revealed for launch nor retail, Apple Watch is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly anticipated tech releases of the year, and one company has used this week’s big trade show as the platform for its neat-looking Apple Watch stand.
With more than 30 different varieties and configurations of Apple Watch in the offing, it’s a product that accessory makers will certainly seek to capitalize on, and Standzout is looking to make an impression with what it touts as “the first great Apple Watch accessory.”
Known as the Bandstand Apple Watch Dock, it features a neat design that will serve as a convenient means of refueling your wrist-worn gadget. Not only that, but the main part of the Bandstand that houses the Watch is on a pivot, so you can rotate the viewing angle to suit your requirements.
The main aim of this product, it seems, is to turn the Apple Watch into an effective nightstand, and although it seems a novel enough idea, one has to wonder whether the limited real estate would be crippling to the overall experience. After all, owning an iPhone is a prerequisite to getting full functionality from Apple Watch, and if a user wanted a nightstand badly enough, they’d get a larger display and a great deal more apps to choose from by utilizing the handset instead.
Still, this is just the first of many, many Apple Watch accessories likely to manifest over the next few months, and until we’ve a solid idea of when the product will be ready for prime time, it’s rather difficult to get excited about third-party efforts.
With that said, the Bandstand is a well thought-out product that leaves very little to chance, and sets a very strong benchmark as we continue to wait on the big launch.
