The greatest strength of Apple and its iPhone has always been the availability of nearly 200,000 apps in the iTunes App Store. No other phone manufacturer has so far been able to match the success that iPhone’s App Store has got. This amazing success of the App Store has led to people wondering if Apple would bring such a business model to its OS X platform as well.

Apple has published its Q2, 2010 financial report and once again their Q2 has proved as one of the most successful quarter for the company. The total revenue was $13.50 billion USD with net quarterly profit of $3.07 billion. iPhone sales raised to 8.75 million (increase of 131% from last year) and iPod sales were 10.89 million (down 1%). According to a recent report from Digitimes, Apple has started developing the next-generation iPad and that it will be using OLED screen technology for the display panels. The panels used are said to be same as the ones used in next-gen iPhone 4G. Apple is planning for a 2011 launch date, which shouldn't be too surprising considering all major Apple products like iPhones, iPods and Macs have a one-year release cycle.
Apple has been busy lately in safe-guarding the design and innovation of its products by taking legal cover of patent grant policy. Scheduled dates for Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) for the year 2010 through 2015 has been revealed on a convention calendar (PDF) hosted on a Japanese site for the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau. The list, which was last updated on May 2009 includes incorrect dates for Macworld 2011, but listings for many other future events appear to be accurate. But its unchallenged supremacy has now been challenged by other stalwarts like Google’s Android, and the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Series by Microsoft.
