Android has many advantages over its competitors that we don’t see anywhere else, one of them being the ability for users to change default apps for various actions, including something as basic as text messaging. It was due to the limitations and poorly-designed interface of the native Messaging app for Android that alternatives like Handcent and GO SMS Pro became so popular.

Prettify For iPhone Is A No Fuss Photo Editor With Powerful And Simple Editing Tools [Download Link]
Photo editors for the iPhone and iPad are pretty much overflowing in the iTunes App Store, and quite honestly, I feel that every third app that I come across belongs to the Photography category. In fact, these apps have now crossed over and in-between - you get camera apps that boast full editing suites embedded within, and likewise get photo editors that double as fully capable camera apps. So what’s the point of another new app, let alone review it?
When Apple launched the iPhone 5s and 5c, and along with it released iOS 7 to the masses, it was a move unlike any other that the company had made since it launched the iPhone back in 2007. You see, iOS 7 was not just a visual overhaul - it was something revolutionary to the iDevice users, who’d be accustomed to the same look and feel for their devices since they got hold of one. iOS 7, and how Jony Ive executed it, have received accolades of praise for being simplistic, elegant and beautiful, not to mention fully functional as a smartphone and tablet operating system. It may even serve as the foundation for the fruit company’s future Human Interface Guidelines for every production interface.
Arguably the most distinguishing feature of the iPhone 5s was its Touch ID fingerprint sensor, which made it all the more unique not just from all other iPhones, iPod touches and iPads, but rather, any other smartphone on the market as well. However, one issue that this caused potentially for the newest iPhone’s availability was low production rates, resulting in long wait times for even early adopters. Now, according to a recent report from DigiTimes, the TSMC, Apple’s supplier for fingerprint sensors, is not only gearing up to initiate production in Q2 this year, but also on a larger scale, in hopes to meet the production needs and demands for the upcoming iPhone 6 that is probably going to get released at the end of this year.
Does it need saying that there are never enough rumors in the world of technology? Probably not, because we all know that pretty well enough already. The truth is, whenever there’s something big coming up, the rumor mill only seems to pick up pace further, and now we get to hear about the alleged specs for Samsung’s new and upcoming Galaxy S5 flagship Android phone that is expected to be unveiled around March this year.
We’ve discussed on multiple occasions how fragmentation is Android’s Achilles Heel. Despite all the many advantages that the open source nature of the operating system brings to users, it’s no hidden truth that OEMs often tend to delay newer Android builds for even not-so-old devices (or cancel them altogether) simply because they want customers to upgrade to the latest phone to get their hands on the latest and greatest that Android has to offer. Nowadays, it’s not just the one year old smartphones that suffer this dilemma - even the reigning flagships see considerable delays in getting updates to the latest available version of Android. Galaxy S4 is just one example from Samsung.
There have been more than enough rumors around the Galaxy S5 already, and perhaps an equal number of reports have also surfaced dispelling all those rumors (not to mention dampening our hopes), but what kind of rumor mill would it be if it stopped already. Despite the claims that Samsung will play it safe with the upcoming and highlight-anticipated Galaxy S5, a new report from iNews24 makes it seem that the Korean manufacturer might actually be looking to toss in a few fresh ideas for its latest flagship Android smartphone when it gets launched in March (reportedly).
What is next in the technology arena? Cameras, of course, and boy, have there been some remarkable improvements in that domain. The trend, however, is still on the up side, with Samsung unveiling two more contenders today in the form of Galaxy Camera 2 and the NX30.
The jailbreak drama that started with the unexpected release of Evasi0n7 and then subsequent discovery of piracy on the Chinese jailbreak store, TaiG, is far from over. As the Internet’s delight over the available of Evasi0n7 as an untethered jailbreak for iOS 7 - 7.0.4 devices changed to fury, Evad3rs came up with a long justification for how things had unfolded when all of this happened and clarified their position. This, however, did not stop people like Geohot and Saurik from expressing their concerns and displeasure with the practices that Evad3rs had apparently employed.
Rejoice, jailbreakers, for we bring good news. The jailbreak app store for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, Cydia, has just received an update, making the software aligned and suited for use with iOS 7. Things are finally moving.
