jOBS, one of two movies based on and around the life of one Steve Jobs, is set to release later this year, and to mark the occasion, the movie’s leading actors Ashton Kutcher and Josh Gad will kick off Macworld next week. The movie was the first to be announced, and Kutcher (Jobs) and Gad (Steve Wozniak) will be representing two of the Cupertino company’s co-founders, and their impromptu visit to the annual Macworld/iWorld conference will no doubt ramp up intrigue in jOBS prior to its April release.
The leading characters will be discussing what it’s been like playing Jobs and Woz, in a special talk session entitled “Playing Steve & Woz.” Having founded Apple Computer all the way back in 1976, the story of the two Steves from there on in is one of the most well-documented and celebrated, which is perhaps little surprise given the current popularity of the company.
The special talk session will be held on the main stage of room 2005 from 9AM on the first day of the Macworld/iWorld event, which is one of the biggest in the Apple enthusiat’s calendar. Apple has not made an appearance at Macworld/iWorld since 2009, but that hasn’t stopped various associated companies and fans from attending and enjoying an event celebrating the products and progress of the world’s most valuable company.
There’ll be a look at some forthcoming products and apps, as well as a variety of talks, and it’s a great opportunity for the general consumer to get involved. Most other events are closed to the public, but for a $25 entry fee, anybody can gain access to the Expo hall and all of its niceties.
The jOBS movie will premiere this week at the Sundance Film Festival later this week. Meanwhile, the other Jobs movie, written by The Social Network’s Aaron Sorkin, looks very interesting indeed, and although the independent Kutcher version will certainly be worth a watch (particularly given how plausible Kutcher appears as an young Steve Jobs), the aforementioned Facebook story shows just how well Sorkin can make top-notch movie from a tech story.
Macworld/iWorld will begin on January 31st, running all the way through to February 2nd.
