Smart home accessory outfit Aqara has announced its first video doorbell with HomeKit Secure Video with the added bonus of facial recognition thrown in for good measure.
The new Smart Video Doorbell G4 offers 1080p video capabilities and supports local streaming on Amazon Alexa and Google Home devices for those who aren’t planning on making use of Apple’s HomeKit Secure Video option.
That facial recognition is handled on-device and can trigger automation and whatnot depending on which people it sees.
In terms of hardware, the video doorbell runs on battery power and can be installed either wirelessly or via a cable. Those batteries are just your standard AA batteries too, six of them to be exact. Aqara reckons that you can get around four months of functionality from one pack of batteries, although the wired option obviously does away with all of that.
This being a smart doorbell means you can obviously configure a variety of things including motion detection, power saving, and more. Those who don’t use HomeKit Secure Video can also use Aqara’s own system, with seven days of event clips recorded and available.
Those looking to pick up the Aqara Smart Video Doorbell G4 can place an order for $119.99 with Black and Shadow Gray colors available. Buyers can choose Amazon or their local Aqara retailer when placing an order.
