Apple is gearing up to make Siri smarter and more conversational, according to a report from Bloomberg.
Internally nicknamed “LLM Siri,” this upgraded version will leverage advanced large language models (LLMs) to compete with AI-powered tools like ChatGPT. The goal? To make Siri capable of holding natural, ongoing conversations and tackling more complex tasks.
The upcoming version of Siri will likely rely on Apple’s own AI models, starting with a first-generation LLM that decides whether to use the current Siri framework or hand off more challenging requests to a second, more advanced model. This shift is part of Apple’s broader effort to enhance Siri’s capabilities across apps.
Apple is already testing the new Siri on iPhones, iPads, and Macs internally through a standalone app, ensuring the tech is solid before rolling it out system-wide.
While the official announcement could come as early as the 2025 WWDC event, the release is expected to take a bit longer. Current plans point to a spring 2026 launch, though timelines may shift as Apple refines the feature.
If successful, the revamped Siri will offer a much more human-like interaction style and bring functionality that rivals existing chatbots. For users, this could mean smarter assistance, seamless app integrations, and a truly conversational AI experience.
