Apple’s Vision Pro Will Have Prescription Inserts For Glasses Wearers

Apple’s Vision Pro AR/VR headset will have the option of adding prescription inserts for people who normally wear glasses.

The headset was announced during the WWDC 2023 event on Monday, June 5, and finally brought years of rumors to an end.

While the name wasn’t Reality Pro as was first thought, much of the rumor mill was spot on. And while the headset’s capabilities are mightily impressive, some had wondered how people would be able to use it when wearing glasses.

The answer is that they won’t, but that Apple will offer prescription inserts that can be used to accommodate people whose eyesight requires correction. The company has done a deal with Zeiss that will see optical inserts offered. The lens company confirmed the move in a press release.

It appears that some prescriptions will not be supported, likely due to the thickness of their lenses and the space limitations imposed by the headset itself.

There is currently no word on how much the inserts will cost or when they will be available, but the headset itself isn’t set to go on sale until some time in the early part of 2024. When it goes on sale the headset will start at $3,499 which is even more than we’d been told to expect.
