Apple has today made the Vision Pro available for preorder for the first time and as part of that we’ve now received confirmation of what the Vision Pro will have in terms of specifications. We now also know what accessories are available including how much they will cost.
In terms of specifications, we now know that the Vision Pro comes with an M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU inside, and that’s married to 16GB of RAM.
There’s also the new R1 chip that “processes input from 12 cameras, five sensors, and six microphones to ensure that content feels like it is appearing right in front of the user’s eyes.”
The headset has two main cameras as well as four eye-tracking cameras and six world-facing cameras. A LiDAR Scanner and a TrueDepth camera round out the main camera components. A six-microphone array handles audio.
In terms of the displays, they are a pair of 4K micro-OLED panels with 23 million pixels between them and support for refresh rates of up to 100Hz. They can also handle both 24 fps and 30 fps playback of video.
Weight was expected to be a problem and the figures bear that out. The Vision Pro weighs between 600 and 650 grams depending on which Light Seal and head band are connected. The battery alone weighs 353 grams and lasts an advertised 2,5 hours.
Apple also announced a number of accessories including additional battery packs, new bands and Light seals, and even a $199 travel case for storing the headset and accessories.
- Solo Knit Band ($99)
- Dual Loop Band ($99)
- Light Seal ($199)
- Light Seal Cushion ($29)
- Vision Pro Battery Pack ($199)
- Belkin Battery Pack Holder ($49.95)
- ZEISS Optical Inserts ($99 to $149)
All of these accessories are available to preorder today alongside the Vision Pro itself with delivery expected around February 2.
