Apple’s Vision Pro will go on sale on February 2 after going up for preorder on January 19 and expectations are certainly high that we can expect something impressive.
But the headset will only launch in the United States on that big day, and Apple hasn’t said when we can expect the headset to go up for sale internationally beyond later in 2024.
Now, a new report hints that we might see the headset go on sale in new countries before June.
That’s because Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple will likely want to make sure that its worldwide developer conference is focused on the Vision Pro, and that could be difficult to do if the headset is only available in one country — it isn’t very “worldwide”, after all.
Apple plans to share more development details about visionOS with global developers at WWDC 2024. If Apple can launch Vision Pro in non-U.S. markets before WWDC 2024, it would be beneficial for promoting the global development ecosystem of visionOS.
Kuo was writing as part of a Medium post in which he discussed why Apple hasn’t so far gone for a multi-country launch for the headset that will represent its first entry into the spatial computing market. Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple wants to make sure that the US launch goes according to plan first, presumably to allow it to iron out any kinks before shipping the product to more countries later in the year.
With WWDC taking place in June in previous years we can now perhaps hope that the Vision Pro will ship in at least some countries before then.
