We’ve been hearing rumors of a pair of Apple-branded over-hear headphones for months with there being some question over whether they would carry the AirPods name, or use something else.
Now we have our closest answer yet, with leaker Jon Prosser claiming we can expect the name to follow a familiar format – AirPods Studio.
AirPods is obviously a name that we are all more than familiar with. The Studio part is perhaps a nod to the Beats brand which itself has a Studio name for some of its own headphones.
Regardless, Prosser reckons we can expect these things to sell for $349 when they finally go on sale. He doesn’t seem to know when that is going to be however, so we’re still in the dark on that front.
We can likely expect active noise cancelling technology, especially given the price. And we’re expecting something similar to existing Beats products but with the Apple logo instead of that familiar “b”.
Looks like Apple is sticking with the “AirPods” branding for their new over-ear headphones.
AirPods Studio
Codename: B515
$349— Jon Prosser (@jon_prosser) May 9, 2020
Prosser has previously been able to leak the iPhone SE, its name, and its launch date as well as that of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. He also confirmed that Apple’s latest notebook wouldn’t make the jump to 14 inches, too. With that in mind, we’re inclined to think he might well have this latest leak correct, too.
We’ll be keeping our ears to the ground for more information when it becomes available.
