Apple’s Redesigned Larger iMac Unlikely To Arrive Until Next Year

Apple’s refreshed, larger iMac that was previously said to be in the cards for a launch this year now won’t be ready until some point in 2022. That’s according to a previously accurate twitter leaker going by the name @dylandkt.

The new iMac is expected to be a replacement for the outgoing Intel 27-inch product and will likely follow the same design language of the recently-released 24-inch iMac.

Apple is also expected to bring a new chip to the product, likely a descendent of the M1 line that will offer more cores and more performance. It’s a Mac that a lot of people are excited to see arrive, but now it seems unlikely that will happen until next year.

According to the report, Apple doesn’t want the new iMac to compete with other products that are still to be announced before the year comes to an end.

Those products are expected to include a new round of iPhones, new Apple Watch, new iPads, and potentially even new Macs. We shouldn’t rule out new AirPods, either.

Apple seems concerned that there could be too many products available at once, reducing the attention any one release could receive. With that in mind, we can still hope that we see the new iMac in the early part of 2022, although that hasn’t been specified as yet.
